Flemingo Duty Free has launched its new Go Duty Free store concept at Chennai International Airport.
Early customer reaction has been positive, the retailer says, and is reflected in a 70% sales increase on last year. Initial response also shows that customer foot fall has increased in Chennai.
The Go Duty Free concept stores are located in arrivals and departures and offer a range of products across liquor, tobacco, confectionery, perfume, cosmetics and watches. The new shops also feature video screens at strategic points displaying product videos and promotions to encourage walk-ins.
“We are committed to give first class customer service. And now we have the range and the space to delight customers further. Support from Airports Authority of India and our initiatives in travel retail will give the customer a reason to buy more duty free in India. We have and will continue to expand our portfolio and offer new range to travellers resulting in more customers,” commented Vivek Bhat CEO Flemingo Duty Free India.
The retailer has been operating in Chennai since 2007 and recently won the concession for another seven years. The airport handles over five million international passengers and registered a passenger growth of 6% on last year.
Flemingo plans to upgrade all of its other Indian Stores using the Go Duty Free concept, with new stores at Kolkata, Amritsar and Goa expected by next month.
By January 2017 stores with the new look will be operational at Jaipur, Lucknow, Calicut, Mangalore, and Ahmedabad at both arrival and departures.
